A few months ago I started following daily Schumann Resonance reports, and I have not been able to stop.
That might sound niche. It is a little niche. But bear with me because I think the Schumann is one of the most interesting threads connecting personal energy experience to something measurable, collective, and planetary.
And also, my ears ring when it spikes. Consistently enough that I have stopped dismissing it.
What the Schumann Resonance Actually Is
The Schumann Resonance is the electromagnetic resonance of the Earth's cavity, the space between the surface of the planet and the ionosphere.
It was first mathematically predicted by physicist Winfried Otto Schumann in 1952. Its base frequency is approximately 7.83 Hz. This is not a metaphysical claim. It is a measurable electromagnetic phenomenon that scientists have been tracking for decades.
The frequency is not static. It fluctuates. Solar activity, lightning storms, and other planetary events drive spikes and shifts in the base frequency that are documented and published in real time by monitoring stations around the world.
What makes it spiritually interesting is what sits right next to those numbers.
The human brain's alpha wave frequency, the state associated with relaxed awareness, light meditation, and the threshold between waking and sleep, sits between approximately 8 and 12 Hz. That overlaps meaningfully with the Schumann's base frequency. There is legitimate scientific inquiry into whether the Earth's electromagnetic field and human consciousness interact through a process called entrainment, where one oscillating system begins to synchronize with another.
The research is ongoing. The conclusions are not settled. But the question is real.
How I Found My Way to It
I started following Consciously Erin on YouTube about two to three months ago and have been watching her daily Schumann reports consistently since then (July 2026 at time of publishing).
She tracks the Schumann Resonance with the precision and intellectual honesty of someone who takes both the science and the experiential dimension seriously. She is not sensational about it. She is rigorous and curious and genuinely engaged with the question of what the data means.
That combination is probably why watching her work has become part of my morning practice.
What I Actually Experience
When the Schumann spikes significantly, I feel it in my crown chakra.
Pressure and warmth at the top of my head. Sometimes a buzzing quality. And almost always, in the hours surrounding a significant spike, my ears ring.
I want to be precise about what I know and do not know here.
I know that the correlation has been consistent across months of observation. When Erin reports a high-activity day, I tend to feel something at the crown, and the ear ringing tends to appear.
I do not know with certainty what the mechanism is. Whether it is electromagnetic entrainment, energetic sensitivity, something that does not have a category yet, or some combination of all of those things, I genuinely cannot say.
What I can say is that paying attention to the Schumann has made me more attuned to the rhythm of my own energy in a practically useful way.
How It Has Changed My Practice
On high-Schumann days I have learned to adjust.
I meditate longer. I drink more water. I rest more generously and move more slowly. I try not to schedule anything demanding or emotionally intensive on days when the resonance is notably elevated.
This is not because I am certain about the mechanism. It is because the pattern has been consistent enough that working with it rather than against it has made a real difference in how I feel.
The body seems to need more support when the field is more active. Whether that is because the field is literally affecting my physiology, or because the practice of paying attention to my energy has made me more responsive to it in general, the result is the same.
I show up more resourced. The meditation goes deeper. The creative work is more alive.
The Collective Dimension
The piece of this that interests me most is what it implies about collective experience.
If individual human consciousness can be affected by the Earth's electromagnetic field, then we are all being affected simultaneously. A significant Schumann spike is not a personal experience. It is a planetary one.
This maps directly onto the collective timelines framework I explore in the art. The idea that individual souls are not having separate, unrelated experiences. That we are connected to each other and to the field we all inhabit. That what is happening collectively is not random but has a frequency, a pattern, and a direction.
On the days when the Schumann is most active, I notice that the energy online has a different quality too. Not always easier. Sometimes more volatile. But more alive. Like something in the collective is processing.
I find that genuinely interesting. Not as proof of anything. As a thread worth following.
On Intellectual Honesty
I want to close with this because I think it matters.
The Schumann content online ranges from rigorously scientific to deeply speculative to actively misleading. Some creators make strong causal claims that the data does not support. Some dismiss the spiritual dimension entirely. Erin occupies a middle ground that I find much more honest and much more interesting than either extreme.
I try to occupy that same middle ground here.
The Schumann Resonance is real. The overlap with human brainwave frequencies is real. The personal experiences I have are real.
What all of that means is a question I hold with genuine curiosity rather than certainty.
That might be the most honest thing I can offer. And it is one of the things I like best about following this thread. It keeps me in genuine inquiry rather than comfortable conclusion.
